I recently picked up The Way of Shadows by Brent Weeks. And I scored a gift card for Borders!
So here's where we stand right now with the Library Dad Reading Fund:
Balance on 1/31 = $50.41
The Way of Shadows Purchase = $2.52
Gift Cards Acquired = $25.00
Ending Balance on 2/20 = $72.89
That's almost eight dollars a month until the end of the year!
You need to explain this reading fund concept. Where did the initial fund money come from? How much was it? How does this work? How do you figure a book's worth? Your Mama is no math genius, so make it simple, ok?

The Library Dad Reading Fund started with an initial contribution of $55 over Christmas (right around the time I was creating Library Dad). I made a few purchases with the money but have been trying hard to spread it out over the rest of the year. I guess I'm considering it my yearly budget.
ReplyDeleteAs for the value of the books, I'm using the total cost to me, Library Dad. So the purchase I made of The Way of Shadows only cost me $2.52 because of various discounts, gift cards, etc. So the prorated costs ends up being only $2.52 (I think it retails for $7.99 or $8.99 or something).
So, I started with $55, spent $4.59, to arrive at a balance of $50.41 at the end of January. I purchased another book for $2.52, but also added another $25 in gift cards. So now my balance is $72.89.
Make sense now?
